EMI/RFI Shielding from Etch Tech

Chemical Milling is well established as an ideal solution for EMC (Electro Magnetic Compatibility) challenges, by providing a quick and cost effective method for Electro Magnetic Interference (EMI) shielding. Although requiring differing parameters the process is equally suitable for RFI (Radio Frequency Interference) shielding.

Because Etch Tech are able to provide you with cost effective specific designs in very short time scales, your board level shielding does not have to be compromised by the use of "standard of the shelf" products. You are able to specify your exact requirements, for example single piece cans, two part fence and lid designs, tear off lids or multi compartment types. All being available in through hole or surface mount variations. As an added advantage you are able to specify the addition of your part number or company logo surface etched onto the part at no extra cost. The technology used to produce the identification can also be utilised to surface etch "folding lines" in the appropriate locations, allowing the screens to be formed without the need for expensive form tooling. As well as a cost advantage this process allows you to specify if your parts are supplied flat for hand folding at your chosen manufacturing site or supplied as fully formed items.

Although Nickel Silver appears to be the material of choice for most applications, you are able to specify to your exact base metal requirements, Including but not limited to; Copper, Copper Alloys, Mild Steel, Stainless Steel and Mu Metal (Hymu 80) either plated or in the natural state.

Where size constraints limit the size of shielding can you are able to use, Etch Tech have developed the 'Prosafe' system which allows either selective or total insulation of the specified surfaces or areas. Whilst enclosures and board level screening account for the majority EMI/RFI Photo Etched products, Etch Tech are equally experienced in manufacturing contact strips (finger strips) usually from Beryllium Copper or Phosphor Bronze. Although some form tooling is required to obtain the correct profile whilst retaining the spring properties of the material, the tooling is uncomplicated and cost effective allowing you to have your desired design rather than the compromise of an off the shelf item.
